TVN24 Biznes i Świat, TVN’s second news channel, is showing excellent viewership results just under a month after being launched. Viewership statistics confirm a rapid rise in the number of viewers in time slots devoted to both international affairs and to business matters. According to preliminary data prepared for TVN by Nielsen Audience Measurement the climax of the live coverage of events in Kiev on January 22nd was watched by 200 thousand viewers in the 4+ category, while the total all-day number of viewers reached as many as 1.34 million people. On January 24th TVN24 Biznes i Świat was the second most watched news channel in Poland, immediately following TVN24.
Adam Pieczyński, TVN’s management board member in charge of news and current affairs and editor-in-chief of TVN24 and TVN24 Biznes i Świat, said: ‘We still have a long way to go before we consolidate the position we have attained. We are fully aware that there are things that need to be improved and we are working to bring about changes that will allow Polish viewers to feel they are experiencing real-time coverage of world events. Meanwhile, though, these early figures confirm our underlying perception that the Poles are becoming increasingly interested in international affairs and serve to reassure us that TVN24 Biznes i Świat is a valuable addition to TVN24’s programme schedule’.
