27.12.2007 - IVONA, text-to-speech system on Onet.pl news.

 

Portal Onet.pl has integrated IVONA a Polish speech synthesizer into its news service. Information published by the portal can now not only be read and commented on but also listened to. It is an ideal solution for elderly people, people with poor sight and those who want to scan the news while doing other things. Polish speech synthesis technology used on www.wiadomosci.onet.pl earned the recognition of research and speech synthesis process development experts, which reached top scores in the Blizzard Challenge survey for two consecutive years 2006 and 2007. IVONA's producer, IVO Software has been present on the market since 2001 dealing solely with the design and development of speech synthesizers. The company conducts its own scientific research but also makes use of the world's latest technology developed by foreign academic centers. IVO Software creates and implements computer programs employing human speech synthesizers based on its own technology. These programs are used in households but also in business and rehabilitation of blind and visually impaired people.

 


18.12.2007 - New Years Eve, a night of films and dancing in Multikino.

 

On New Years Eve all Multikino sites across the country will host the ultimate one-of-a-kind New Year's Eve party combining movies and dancing. 17.12.2007 - Christmas and New Year's Eve on TVN and TVN 24.

 

TVN and TVN 24 have prepared a very special programming offer to entertain its audience during Christmas time and on New Year's Eve. It already became a tradition that on the Christmas days TVN broadcasts a wide selection of films such as animated features, comedies and family movies of foreign and Polish origin. This year TVN's audience will have a chance to see, among others, "Shrek", a Christmas special, "Two Weeks Notice", "Shark Tale", "Polar Express", "Elf", "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory", "Pieniadze to nie wszystko" and "Lepiej pozno niz wcale". Next to the movies, TVN will also broadcast several entertainment shows and on New Year's Eve night the highlights of TVN's music and dancing shows such as "You Can Dance" or "Sopot Festival 2007 - the Sunday night fever" as well as for the first time in TVN's history it will have a live broadcast of the News Year's Eve event on the Plac Defilad in Warsaw. TVN 24 prepared a lot of attractions for its audience too. The channel will broadcast special editions of its popular shows such as "Magazyn 24" and "Szklo kontaktowe" and many interesting documentaries. For example, on Christmas Eve, TVN 24 will broadcast the first episode of its docu-soap "Wielkie ucieczki" ("Great escapes") about spectacular escapes by Poles from their country during the times under communistic regime. Those who decide to switch on TVN 24 on the first day of 2008, will have a chance to embrace the New Year together with Grzegorz Miecugow, Marek Przybylik and their special guest Maria Czubaszek, the well known Polish writer, journalist and satirist.

 


10.12.2007 - Santa Claus in Legia.

 

On 06.12.2007 The Legia club celebrated Santa Claus day. The event organized especially for the club's youngest fans, was hosted by Legia's announcer, Wojciech Hadaj. Special guests, dressed as Santas Legia's players provided the good atmosphere, while posing for photographs and giving autographs to children, who were also allowed to see the club's facilities such as the first team's dressing room. Additionally, the children could participate in various contests and win Legia T-shirts or the latest model of the Adidas soccer ball, which will be used during the EURO 2008. Each of the 60 little participants received a small gift before going home and given the big smile on children's faces, the whole event must have been a great success.

 


05.12.2007 - 2007 teddy bears - TVN Foundation "you are not alone" continues its Christmas charity campaign.

 

As in previous years the TVN Foundation, Bukowski Design of Sweden and "Forget-me-Not" organized a charity campaign "buy a teddy bear for your beloved one and help people in need". As for the 2006 campaign, the teddy bears in this years campaign were inspired by children drawings. Barbara Bukowska, the worldwide famous teddy bear designer selected 6 images as a basis concept for a new limited collection of 7'194 teddy bears. The teddy bears are priced PLN 50 each. The Funds raised from the sale of these extraordinary teddy bears are to cover the costs of medical treatment of seriously ill children supported by the TVN Foundation. Teddy bears are available only in Poland in Galeria Bukowski in Krakow, in the "Forget-me-Not" shops in Warsaw, Gdansk and Zakopane as well as on the Internet on www.kupmisia.allegro.pl.

 


05.12.2007 - TVN rules in autumn.

 

In November 2007 TVN channel delivered in the basic commercial target group (16-49) audience share results beating for the first time in its history all other television channels in Poland. TVN channel's all day audience share rose to 19.8% from 19.6% in the corresponding period of 2006. Thanks to that, TVN channel overtook TVP1, Polsat and TVP2 which recorded audience share results in the 16-49 group of, respectively, 19.6%, 18.9% and 16.5%. In November 2007 TVN channel's all day nationwide audience share rose to 18.5% from 18.2% in November 2006. In this way TVN channel, also for the first time in its history, overtook in this category TVP2 and Polsat which recorded respectively 17.8% and 15.7%. From among the four biggest television channels, TVN was the only one to increase its all day nationwide audience share in November 2007. In November 2007 TVN channel also recorded excellent results in the key target group (16-49, cities over 100,000). TVN channel's all day audience share in its key target group rose to 25.6% from 24.7% in November 2006, while in prime time TVN channel's audience share was 31.1% compared to 31.8% in the corresponding period of 2006. In November 2007 TVN24 channel increased its all day nationwide audience share to 3.0% from 1.9% in November 2006. In prime time TVN24 channel's nationwide audience share rose to 1.8% in November 2007 from 1.5% in the corresponding period of 2006. In November 2007 TVN24 channel's all day key target group audience share (25+, above average income, cities over 100,000) also increased substantially to 6.1% from 4.1% in the corresponding period of 2006. With such excellent results, in both the key target group and on an all day nationwide basis, TVN 24 confirmed again its position as the sixth most watched television channel in Poland. The results being even more impressive taking into account TVN24 channel reaches only 40.5% of households. In November 2007 the TVN Group channels significantly increased their aggregate all day nationwide audience share to 23.9% from 22.4% in the corresponding period of 2006. The TVN Group channels also increased their aggregate prime time nationwide audience share to 27.4% in November 2007 from 27.0% in the corresponding period of 2006.

 


26.11.2007 - Moody's Investors Service upgraded rating of TVN S.A.

 

On November 22, 2007 Moody's Investors Service upgraded the corporate rating (CFR) of TVN S.A. to Ba2 from Ba3. Concurrently, Moody's upgraded the rating on TVN Finance Corporation plc's EUR235 million senior unsecured notes due 2013 to Ba3 from B1. The rating outlook is stable. The rating upgrade reflects TVN's continued strong operational results which resulted in an enhancement of TVN's credit metrics, e.g. Total Debt to EBITDA (as adjusted by Moody's) has improved to 2.2x as of LTM September 2007 from 2.6x as of December 2006. The Ba2 rating positively reflects on TVN's leading position in the Polish TV broadcasting market, which enjoys a significant growth potential, as well as the company's solid and sustainable audience share levels, supported by its multi-channel and multi-distribution strategy which allows it to exploit content across different platforms.

 


20.11.2007 - Multikino introduces Dolby 3D Digital Cinema.

 

Multikino introduces the World's latest technology - Dolby 3D Digital Cinema. Digital cinema in the 3D technology is much more advanced than the traditional 3D processes. Multikino's audience will be among the first in Europe to experience the exquisite quality and lifelike clarity of 3D images using Dolby 3D Digital Cinema, which pulls a viewer right into the heart of the action and is unlike anything the movie industry has experienced before. The Polish 3D premiere is to take place not much longer than a month after the world's 3D system's debut on 19.10.2007 in the Point Cinema in Madison in Wisconsin. The Polish first movie showing in the 3D technology will take place in Multikino in Warsaw and in Poznan on 23.11.2007. The movie will be "Beowulf".

 


19.11.2007 - The Financial Times on Onet.pl.

 

Onet.pl launched a new service, FT.onet.pl, providing coverage from the current issue of the Financial Times in two language versions complemented by multimedia materials, e.g. commentaries and video commentaries by Polish experts. The service offers stock exchange quotations, exchange rates from Poland and the world, a discussion forum and expert blogs. Onet.pl has been publishing some of the FT's content on its business pages for over one and a half years and will continue to feature FT content by posting the most important texts from FT.onet.pl, whereas the content on FT.onet.pl will focus on the most important business news of the day. Onet.pl's business service, Biznes.onet.pl is very popular among the Internet users. According to data collected by Megapanel/PBI Gemius in August 2007, the business sites on Onet.pl counted 2.5 million visitors, which is by 0.9 million visitors more than recorded by Wirtualna Polska, the second in the ranking, and by 1.1 million visitors more than recorded by Money.pl, ranked the third. At the same time, business sites on Onet.pl recorded around 80 million page views, which is two times more than the number of page views of similar sites recorded by Wirtualna Polska or Interia.

 


12.11.2007 - Zumi extends its offer.

 

Zumi, Poland's first online location finder extends its offer by adding new functionalities and services. Among the new tools are subject tabs: "Firmy" (Companies), "Turystyka" (Tourism), "Bankomaty" (Cash Dispansers), "Panoramiczne wycieczki" (Panoramic Tours) and "Wyznaczanie trasy" (Rout Setting), which facilitate the search for companies and services as well as tourist attractions, cash dispensers, hotels and restaurants. Other novelties include a browser helping to find tourist attractions such as monuments, galleries, museums and other places of common interest, a route setting tab and a panoramic tours function enabling users a virtual visit to several hundreds of the interest objects across the country. Zumi's database consists of nearly 1 million companies and institutions, 1.5 thousand panoramic tours, nearly 10.000 cash dispensers and from 10 to 20.000 accommodation establishments and restaurants. Zumi also enables to compare selected offers, e.g. hotels, guest houses, restaurants and bars. The new tabs have been created in cooperation with VRmedia, the provider of panorama applications and Pascal, the publisher of travel guides.

 


08.11.2007 - TVN reports consolidated third quarter 2007 results.

 

Today, TVN Group announced very good financial results for third quarter 2007. TVN aggregated all day nationwide audience share increased to 21.2% from 20.4% in the corresponding period of 2006. Aggregated prime time nationwide audience share increased to 23.9% from 23.5% in the corresponding period of 2006. TVN 24 channel increased its all day key target group audience share to 7.7% from 5% in the corresponding period of 2006. Belonging to TVN Group portal Onet.pl increased its number of real users to 9.5 million, Its number of page views increased to 2,740 million and time spent on the portal increased significantly to 57 million hours. TVN net revenues increased by 38% to PLN 297 million from PLN 215 million in the corresponding period of 2006. EBITDA increased by 68% to PLN 56 million from PLN 34 million in the corresponding period of 2006. EBITDA margin was 19% as compared to 16% in the corresponding period of 2006. TVN adjusted net profit increased to PLN 21 million compared to a loss of PLN 9 million in the corresponding period of 2006. October and November audience share results for TVN channel are on an upwards trend which bodes well for the fourth quarter and 2008.

07.11.2007 - Multikino invites to the "Commercial-eaters Night", one of the largest International events dedicated to the World of commercials.

 

On 09.11.2007 all Multikino sites across the country will host the "Commercial-eaters Night" ("Noc Reklamozercow"), the event showing the diversity of trends, cultural movements and the latest achievements of the film industry. This year's program includes reviews of Belgian and Rumanian commercials, quirky commercials from Central Beheer, the Honda advertisement portfolio, the recent campaigns by Volkswagen and Cathay Pacific as well as commercials by famous directors such as Jean Luc Godard, David Lynch, Giuseppe Tornatore, Emir Kustrica, Roman Polanski, Wim Wenders and Robert Altman. Additionally, Multikino will screen Italian commercials from the sixties, unforgettable Bob and his Fiat 131, Leo chocolate, Perrier campaign and for the first time a block dedicated to the Polish advertisement. The "Commercial-eaters Night" is traditionally accompanied by numerous side events such as parties, DJ music and various surprises, exhibitions and contests which all secure the whole "Night" to be a great fun and entertainment.

The brand reputation is evaluated by the independent Brand Council consisting of marketing, advertising and branding experts. The "Superbrand" status is awarded to brands which hold a very leading position within their respective industries and are providing significant contribution to consumers' lives. The Superbrands organization, which currently operates in 80 countries worldwide, was established in the nineties in London and aims to promote successful brands recognizing their position within local markets. This year, the evaluation by the Brand Council was complemented by Poland's largest consumer research conducted by the Marketing Research Centre, Indicator. The research included more than 1'000 brands divided in various categories. In the category "spare time and entertainment", Multikino was ranked the No. 1 measured by spontaneous brand awareness and TVN is an unquestionable leader in the category "media and publishers". 31.10.2007 - "n", the new generation television announced its latest developments during a press conference last week.

 

During its press conference on 24.10.2007 in the Narodowy Theater in Warsaw, n, the new generation television presented its achievements 2007 and announced new features and programs. Maciej Sojka, President of ITI Neovision presented new Internet services and new functions of the nbox HDTV as well as introduced new channels to extend the programming offer of n. Among the novelties are nine new movie channels and three Internet based services: Onet.pl Foto, Onet.pl Pogoda and Series developed in cooperation with Onet.pl S.A. 29.10.2007 - Multikino, the ITI Group multiplex cinema operator opens a new cinema in Rybnik.

 

On 26.10.2007 Multikino opened its newest cinema in Rybnik. Multikino Rybnik is situated right in the city center within the elegant Fokus Park shopping and entertainment complex, which is developed by Parkridge CE Retail. The cinema features 7 comfortable auditoriums offering around 1'100 seats. Multikino's specialty is a very interesting programming offer, so the audience in Rybnik will have an opportunity to enjoy the latest blockbusters but also independent productions as well as special film events such as film marathons, screenings for parents with babies - "Multibabykino", and screenings preceded by various promotional event for females, "Kino na Obcasach" ("High heels cinema"). Multikino Rybnik will also provide morning shows for children and other not film related events such as life sport broadcasts and concerts, which in the meantime became a trademark of Multikino. Owned by the ITI Group Multikino currently operates 130 screens and accommodates around 31'000 seats within its locations across Poland.

 


24.10.2007 - Onet.pl helps to set up an online shop.

 

Onet.pl has launched www.e-commerce.onet.pl, a new service dedicated to online businesses. The service provides detailed information and the technology necessary to set up one's own e-shop. iStore.pl (Allegro Group), the vendor of comprehensive e-commerce software hosting services (in ASP system, i.e. Application Service Provider) is the sole provider of the e-shop platform. ASP is a form of specialized software leasing, which allows a significant cost reduction when developing an online business. The modular system structure provides flexibility and free expansion opportunity by adding additional modules. Customers can control the costs of their on-line business by activating selected functions of the shop. New functions and training materials on mastering the skills to run an e-shop will be subsequently added to www.e-commerce.onet.pl. The new service provides numerous articles and tips on safe on-line transactions, legal aspects of e-shop management and e-commerce market data.

 


24.10.2007 - TVN expects higher revenues and EBITDA margin in 2007.

 

TVN S.A. announced that it had updated its guidance in respect of the year ended December 31, 2007. TVN S.A. now expects that revenues will grow by between 26% and 30%, and that EBITDA margin will be between 34% and 36%. TVN S.A. had announced on previously that revenue would grow by between 23% and 26% and that EBITDA margin was expected to be between 33% and 35%. TVN S.A. currently expects capital expenditure on property and equipment in 2007 to amount to 155 million PLN. Previously TVN S.A. had announced that it expected capital expenditure on property and equipment to amount to between 165 million PLN and 175 million PLN. As at September 30, 2007 the market price of the TVN's Senior Notes was EURO 106 , as compared with Euro 112 on June 30, 2007. As a result TVN S.A. will record a non cash financial cost of 123 million PLN in the third quarter of 2007, partly offset by a related credit in deferred tax of 23 million PLN. This cost arises on the revaluation of prepayment options TVN S.A. has in respect of its 235 million Eurobond, and in any event as previously announced, if not recorded now would have been recorded in 2008 or thereafter, when the prepayment options would be used.

 


22.10.2007 - religia.tv - the ITI Group launches its latest thematic channel.

 

On 15.10.2007, "n", the new generation television added a new thematic channel, religia.tv, to its offer as a part of the "news and entertainment" package, which is available free of charge to all n subscribers. Part of religia.tv's programs are also broadcast within the "religia" section of onet.tv. Religia.tv's extensive programming offer includes a broad variety of formats such as interactive shows, documentaries, classic movies, programs on culture and popular science, talk-shows as well as cooking and travelling formats. The content deals mostly with Christianity and its influence on Polish culture and public life but does not omit informative programs on other religions. Every Sunday at 11.00 religia.tv will broadcast a live mass from various churches across Poland. Additionally, there is a section dedicated to the late Pope John Paul II. The channel was created for those viewers who desire to have an unlimited access to programs about faith and religion.

 


18.10.2007 - Election Evening on TVN and TVN 24 ..

On the Election Day (21.10.2007) TVN and TVN24 will broadcast a joint "Election Evening". Starting at 19:50 TVN's leading journalists, Justyna Pochanke, Bogdan Rymanowski and Kamil Durczok will welcome the audience. On 20:00 sharp the first results of the election poll by PBS/DGA will be announced, followed by first commentaries from local election offices, expert opinions. During the evening leading politicians from all parties will be guests in the "Election Evening" studio. Just after 20:00 following the first result broadcast TVN will broadcast "Taniec z gwiazdami" ("Strictly come dancing") whereas TVN 24 will continue the "Election Evening" programme. TVN and TVN 24 hope that Lech Kaczyński, the President of Poland will accept the invitation of Monika Olejnik to be her special guest for the evening. At 23:00 the stations will join again to broadcast a special edition of Fakty, conducted by Kamil Durczok. Later on TVN 24 will continue the Election night.

 


16.10.2007 - Special election service by tvn24.pl.

 

On 21.10.2007, tvn24.pl portal will host www.tvn24.pl/wybory, a special parliamentary election service. A few seconds after 8pm, the service will provide first results of the election poll conducted by PBS/DGA, the public opinion research center. The results will be constantly updated with the data from the National Election Committee. www.tvn24.pl/wybory, will also provide a variety of additional information on the electorate demographics, video coverage from the local election offices as well as commentary and opinions by political scientists, journalists as well as by random voters. The editorial team of tvn24.pl will be responsible for the content on the election service, which was created by the team of DreamLab, a research and new technology development unit of the ITI Group.

 


15.10.2007 - Multikino to host the 2007 Horrorfestival.

 

Between 25th and 28th of October, just a few days before Halloween, Multikino will host the horror film festival. The festival will feature the most interesting thrillers of the last years, which were never screened nor distributed on DVD on the Polish market. The films are produced by the new upcoming stars of the horror genre, who are celebrated among the fans of horror movies.The festival takes care shows movies representing various genres. The audience as well as the jury will have an opportunity to review and rate films from the Far East, Scandinavia, England and USA. 08.10.2007 - National Test in English on Onet.pl.

 

Onet.pl and TVN Lingua invite to participate in the National Test in English, which comes as another example of interactive entertainment following the National IQ Test and Driving Test both organized by TVN in cooperation with Onet.pl. The National Test in English applies multimedia solutions and includes various exercises to test the overall knowledge of English. Collective results will be provided on 14 October on www.tvnlingua.onet.pl. Questions for the test have been prepared by Profi-Lingua experts. 08.10.2007 - TVN CNBC Biznes to host election business lunches.

 

"Election business lunch" is a new show broadcast every day at 12.00 on TVN CNBC Biznes starting on 08.10.2007 through to 19.10.2007. TVN CNBC Biznes journalists: Roman Mlodkowski, Robert Stanilewicz, Mikolaj Kunica, Marek Tejchman and Marcin Kowalski will discuss current economy matters with Polish leading politicians. The journalists will ask their guests about the political programs of their parties and inquire about such issues as a government finance, EURO 2012, mergers and acquisitions, as well as their personal attitude towards business people. During the last three lunches well known economy experts will be guests in the TVN CNBC Biznes studio and will summarize the parties' individual political programs.

 


01.10.2007 - 10 years of TVN programmed to be the best.

 

TVN celebrates its 10th anniversary. The jubilee celebrations have been launched on 30.09.2007 during the Sunday show " Zlote Tarasy" and a special anniversary logo "10 years of tvn, programmed to be the best" will appear on the screen throughout October. On the 03.10.2007 TVN's program will be dedicated to the station's history, featuring a reminiscence of TVN's best shows, which contributed to TVN's success. Among TVN's program milestones are such shows as "Who wants to be a millionaire" - the first game show with really big money at stake, "Rozmowy w toku", the first daily talk show. "Agent" was the first and "Big Brother" was the most famous reality show to be broadcast in Poland. Another milestone in the history of TVN was the launch of TVN 24, Poland's 24h news channel, which changed the image of Polish journalism. Today 13 channels carry "TVN" in their name and each of them has an outstanding audience recognition. In the last "Telekamery" competition based on audience voting, the only independent jury, TVN and its employees were multiple winners and received awards in each category in which they were nominated. Onet.pl launched a special election information service www.wybory.onet.pl. 24.09.2007 - TVN Foundation "you are not alone" finances 4 more cochlear implants for the aid of deaf and hard-of-hearing children.

 

During this years Sopot Festival, TVN Foundation conducted its third sms campaign to collect the funds for cochlear implants for the aid of deaf and hard-of-hearing children. On 02.09.2007 during the Sunday evening concert, the audience could send a sms message to the Foundation's number 7126. In previous years, the TVN Foundation was able to fund 11 cochlear implants for children. Onet.pl and TVN Lingua, the thematic channel available on the n platform, have launched a new English learning channel. tvnlingua.onet.pl, the on-line language television channel is the first educational service of this kind in Poland. 17.09.2007 - n television town - Warsaw's major autumn event!

 

The biggest autumn picnic in Warsaw, "n television town" will be set up at Pole Mokotowskie on 23.09.2007. Between 9am and 9pm, visitors will be able to experience the television world at its best, to see television transmission vans, to watch TV producers, camera and sound people at work, to meet TVN celebrities or visit journalists in the nSport outdoor studio. During the day, the n platform will present its current offer of around 40 channels. MGM HD, War and Peace, AXN and CINEMAX channels will present some of their best movies on an extra large screen. NASN channel will show some less popular American sport disciplines. Sport enthusiasts will have an opportunity to see the fight of the internationally recognized Polish box fighters Grzegorz Proksa and Lukasz Wawrzyczek live in the ring of the SportKlub channel. Children and youngsters are welcome in the "n television town". A special entertainment offer for small visitors includes a concert by Majka Jezowska, screenings from Cartoon Network as well as an opportunity to "meet" Scooby Doo, Johny Bravo, Bloo and Deuter among the others. Da Vinci channel will invite the older children to a chemie and physics lecture by "mad scientists". The event will not miss a great music! Some of the best Polish rock groups of recent years will appear on stage during the day, the program also includes a concert of the cult band - Kombi. The "n television town" will also see Jurek Owsiak promoting his O.TV. channel but not only. Thanks to his initiative visitors will be able to test their blood sugar level, participate in the first aid training and donate blood. During the whole day a number of contests will take place, the winners will go home with the internet cameras, n boxes, New York trip including tickets for the NFL match of New York Giants against San Francisco 49ers sponsored by NASN as well as with various gadgets such as tee-shirts, toys, or caps and others. 05.09.2007 - nSport, the world's leading provider of the UEFA Champions League in HD standard!

 

On 30.08.2007, during the UEFA conference in Monaco organized on occasion of the group draw, it was announced that the nSport channel is the world's leading provider of the Champion League matches in HD standard for the 2006/07 season. In the past season nSport broadcast 18 UEFA Champions League matches in HD, outpacing several other stations including Sky Sports. nSport is a sport channel of unique informative - publicist formula, launched in October 2006 being the first Polish channel broadcasting in HD. 04.09.2007 - TVN CNBC Biznes launched.

 

As of 03.09.2007 "n" and "Cyfra+" subscribers are offered a new 24h business channel, TVN CNBC Biznes. On the n platform, TVN CNBC Biznes is available within the "news and entertainment" package, Cyfra+ provides the new business channel as a part of basic, premium and prestige packages. TVN CNBC Biznes is the co-production between the TVN Group and CNBC. The programs are the result of a daily editorial and technological cooperation between CNBC and TVN CNBC Biznes in Poland. The Polish channel has access to CNBC's worldwide infrastructure and has deployed two permanent correspondents to London and Frankfurt, who are able to use CNBC's local newsrooms and resources. 04.09.2007 - TVN, the first Polish free-to-air channel to broadcast in HD.

 

Since 28.08.2007 TVN broadcasts in HD format simultaneously to its standard broadcast. TVN is the first free-to-air channel in Poland to apply High Definition standards and as such is available exclusively to subscribers of the "n" platform and is a part of the "news and entertainment" package on channel number 13. The parallel broadcast in both standard (4:3) and high resolution (16:9) formats allows those TVN viewers who own wide screen TV sets to enjoy a high quality of images without causing any changes in a signal received by users of less modern equipment with a standard screen parameters.

 


03.09.2007 - Sopot Festival 2007, three days of excellent music and top entertainment.

 

Yesterday was the last day of the 44th International Sopot Festival 2007. This three days event organized by TVN is the most important event in the Polish music calendar. This year festival opened with a Gala Concert, which included the performance of the American singer and musician Norah Jones, one of the most successful young generation artists, whose melancholic songs charmed the audience in the Sopot Forrest Opera House on Friday night. On the second day of the festival a number of Polish and International artists were competing for the "The Amber Nightingale" and "The Audience Nightingale" awards. Both awards were presented to the Polish band "Feel". The third and final day of the festival - the "Sunday Night Fever" brought back on stage the disco hits of the 70's such as "I will survive" and "Y.M.C.A" together with their famous performers including Gloria Gaynor, Village People, Hot Chocolate, Kool&The Gang and Sister Sledge. The entire evening was hosted by Kayah, who also presented some of her hit songs in a new inspired by a disco era of 70's version. As in the previous year, the organizers of the Sopot festival, did not disappoint the audience and provided three exciting days of an excellent entertainment.

 


03.09.2007 - TVN24 to broadcast from the sky.

 

Since last week, TVN's most recent purchase - "Blue 24", a Robinson R44 Raven newscopter can be spotted on the Polish sky. Blue 24, manufactured by the world's leading Robinson Helicopter Company, is the first and only newscopter in Poland. Whether it's a traffic jam, a forest fire, a coal miners' strike, political demonstration or any other event of high importance - the audience of TVN 24 and of Fakty have a chance to see from the birds eye. Blue 24, similarly to a small-size transmission van, is equipped with 5 cameras but it also has a state-of-the-art system of antennas enabling live transmitting within a 100-200km radius from the "receive" antenna. Live news coverage is currently available in the Warsaw area. TVN's studios in Gdansk and Krokow will be provided with a necessary equipment shortly. Blue 24 is the new working environment for three TVN teams, each consisting of a journalist (Agnieszka Czajkowska, Katarzyna Kozlowska, Dorota Gardias, Agnieszka Idzik), a camera operator (Marcina Wyszogrodzki, Andrzej Pochanke, Tomasz Gorksi) and the pilot. The "sky broadcast studio", Blue 24 is one more example of ultramodern technology implemented by TVN for the benefit of its audience.

 


29.08.2007 - TVN Foundation "You are not alone" invites to the ECCO Walkathon 2007, a walk of people of good will.

 

TVN Foundation "You are not alone" invites to participate in the biggest international charity event the ECCO Walkathon, the walk of people of good will, organized by ECCO, the Danish footwear producer. On 15.09.2007 the Polish Walkathon participants are to start and finish their 6km or 10km long route at Pola Mokotowskie in Warsaw. ECCO will pay PLN 4.- for each kilometer walked by each participant to an indicated charity organization. This years support will go to the TVN Foundation "You are not alone", Street Kids International and WWF. TVN Foundation will use the money to buy medical equipment and drugs for children suffering from the incurable genetic disease mucoviscidosis. The costs of treatment of people with mucoviscidosis are very high and range from PLN 1000 to PLN 3000 per month and frequently patients can effort the necessary medication, rehabilitation and diet only with a help of others. The TVN Foundation "You are not alone" for three years has been caring for over 200 persons suffering from this disease. Most of them are children who call their sickness with a diminutive name of "muco" and are well aware of its lethal nature. Walkathon 2007 will be attended by TVN stars and TVN will report on an the event within its "Good morning TVN" show. Registration fees are PLN 10.- for adults and PLN 5.- for children below 12, tickets can be bought in ECCO shops and online on www.eccowalkathon.pl.

 


27.08.2007 - Dziecko.onet.pl - new service co-created by portal users.

 

The newly launched service dziecko.onet.pl is targeted towards parents and those willing to become ones. The service enables co-editing by users posting own articles, tips or photos of their offspring. The user generated content is published along with the editorial content. On dziecko.onet.pl parents may set up own profiles, where they may post their own text - tips and suggestions, descriptions of their experience as parents and along with pictures of their children. Through the service parents may contact other parents living in the same region or town or bringing up children of a similar age. Particularly active parents may become moderators and modify the content posted by other users. Dziecko.onet.pl may also serve as a rich source of knowledge of the youngest, as it also carries the content posted by practicing doctors or pedagogues. The service provides various interesting facts, competitions or useful tools like, e.g. calculators, particularly helpful while pinpointing fertile days, time of delivery or weight increase during pregnancy. Experts such as a midwife, paediatrician, gynaecologist and psychologists are available to reply to queries posted by users. Dziecko.onet.pl comes as the first writing service which allows co-edition on such a large scale.

 


14.08.2007 - ZumiTags, zumi.pl's latest online advertising tool.

 

Zumi Tags, the new online advertising tool on Zumi.pl, is designed to enable advertisers to upgrade their presentation and highlight their business offer within Zumi.pl. In addition to basic business cards (tags), which are free of charge, advertisers have the opportunity to choose between paid tags, namely the silver and the gold tag. Depending on the tag version, advertisers have the possibility to expand their business descriptions by such elements as website addresses, advertising slogans of 20 words (silver tag) and of 50 words (gold tag), additional 10 (silver tag) or 25 (gold tag) key words as well as presenting an extended company's profile. The gold tags allow to place the company's logo and image gallery as well as extra advertising such as banners, video data and other downloadable files. Following the launch of Zumi.pl, Poland's first and only online location finder, ZumiTags offer is a further step by Grupa Onet's plan to enter the Yellow Pages adverting market.

 


10.08.2007 - TVN Group announced outstanding results for the second quarter of 2007.

 

TVN Group announced very strong financial and operational results for the second quarter of 2007. The station's net revenues increased by 32% to PLN 407million from PLN 309 million in the corresponding period of 2006. EBITDA increased by 25% to 172 million from PLN 138 million in the corresponding period of 2006. Net profit of TVN Group increased to PLN 139 million from PLN 85 million in the corresponding period of 2006, and operating profit increased by 23% to PLN 156 million. TVN channels aggregated all day nationwide audience share increased to 21.9% from 20.4% in the corresponding period of 2006. TVN channel prime time nationwide audience share increased to 20.7% from 20.3% in the corresponding period of 2006. TVN 24 increased its all day key target group audience share to 5.7% from 3.6% in the corresponding period of 2006. On April 12, 2007 TVN Group launched zumi.pl an online directory service which incorporates location finding on satellite and hybrid maps. Zumi.pl is the only service of such kind on Poland and is to enter the Yellow Pages market shortly. On May 23, 2007 TVN Group acquired Mango Media, a teleshopping company, which is a consequence of TVN Group's strategy to diversify its revenues.

 


23.07.2007 - TVN International now available in Canada.

 

TVN Group and Rogers Cable Communications Inc., Canada's No.1 cable television operator, announced launch of TVN International in Canada. It is estimated that around 200,000 Polish speaking persons live in Canada. TVN International is an entertainment and news channel, its program offer is made up of entertainment shows, series, films, news and current affairs magazines as well as sport magazines. TVN International viewers in Canada will be able to watch selected TVN in-house productions, as well as some of TVN Group's thematic channels, simultaneously with their compatriots in Poland. Next to the most popular formats and series from the TVN Group, TVN International Canada will broadcast news from both Poland and around the world in a live broadcast of TVN's daily news show, Fakty. Sport fans will have a chance to watch football matches from the Polish first league. TVN International programming offer is based on Polish production, however, the station will also broadcast some foreign programs. Subscribers to Rogers Cable Communications can watch TVN International free of charge between 18.07.2007 and 20.08.2007 on channel 647.

 


10.07.2007 - TVN Group and CNBC to launch a joint business news channel.

 

TVN Group and CNBC signed an agreement to co-produce the new business news channel TVN CNBC Biznes. The contract allows for daily editorial and technological teaming between CNBC and TVN CNBC Biznes in Poland. TVN CNBC Biznes will have access to CNBC's worldwide infrastructure. The global reach will secured by CNBC Europe sharing its technical resources and expertise in providing news, interviews and analysis on worldwide business and financial markets. The Polish business channel will have permanent correspondents in London and Frankfurt, who will have access to the resources of CNBC's local newsrooms in order to provide TVN CNBC Biznes live broadcasts to Wiertnicza Street in Warsaw. CNBC Europe infrastructure will also allow TVN CNBC Biznes to broadcast live comments on the Polish economy from analysts in banks and financial institutions based in London. TVN CNBC Biznes will use a state of the art newsroom with the latest technologies and a permanent link will be established between London and Warsaw to secure continuous exchange of footage and programme excerpts. At the same time TVN CNBC Biznes journalists will provide CNBC Europe with analysis on economic developments in Poland and reports from the Warsaw Stock Exchange. Thus, the Polish stock exchange will join an elite group of the capital markets featured by this globally recognized TV network. The agreement with CNBC provides TVN CNBC Biznes with substantial knowledge and expertise in the production of a daily live business channel. Current team of TVN CNBC Biznes consists of 50 people. Roman Mlodkowski, TVN Business News Services Director has been appointed as the first TVN CNBC Biznes Programming Director. TVN Group has the exclusive licence to operate the TVN CNBC Biznes channel in Poland. The contract between the TVN Group and CNBC is unprecedented in the Polish market and the first initiative to establish a channel with global coverage in Central Europe.

 


09.07.2007 - Successful debut of Zumi.pl.

 

Poland's first Internet address location service, Zumi.pl recorded 1,8 mln users, over 15 mln page views and reached 12,5 % of the market within just 3 weeks since its launch. These are the results of the April research data by Megapanel PBI/Gemius. The performance showed by Zumi.pl in the first month of its activity exceeded the most optimistic expectations and is the result of its uniqueness on the Polish market as well as the effect of a very successful advertising campaign. Zumi.pl is the only Internet address location service in Poland enabling to find and display on the map or on the satellite photo any company or institution in Poland.

 


02.07.2007 - TVN Med records 15'000 users!

 

Since its launch in October 2006, the educational platform TVN Med has recorded the equivalent number of users as well established Polish medical bulletins have readers. 15'000 medics equals the number of graduates from Polish medical academies in 6 years, which shows that TVN Med's content offering met market's needs and serves as an useful tool for doctors in their professional development. TVN Med provides medical content sourced from recognized international specialists and features programs made by doctors for doctors. Up to date, TVN Med produced over 200 hours of programming in cooperation with more than 150 doctors, some of which are highly qualified and acknowledged professionals specialized in various fields of medicine. The TVN Med educational platform consists of the television channel available on the digital platform "n" coupled with a professional Internet portal, which in combination guarantees flexibility and a wide access to information and discussion forums. After 9 months of operations, TVN Med enjoys growing interest from advertisers and sponsors: Pliva (Grupa Barr), Nycomed, Pfizer, Astellas, Mereck are among the companies which decided to cooperate with the medical platform. TVN Med targets to reach 40'000 medics (approximately a half of medical community in Poland) by the end of the year.

 


19.06.2007 - Onet.pl launches Internet television.

 

Today Onet.pl launched its multimedia platform, Onet.tv featuring a library in excess of 9'000 video clips, over 100 tv programs and 7 thematic channels: News, Sport, Music, Film, Travels, Lifestyle and Educational. The rich programming offer (covering around 420 hours of video footage, which translates into 17 and a half day of a non stop broadcast), freedom to create one's own schedule, "playlist" as well as "on demand" content are key features of the latest project from Onet.pl. Onet.tv compiles the portal's entire multimedia features such as broadcasts, commentaries, documentaries, films, music clips and hosted shows. Among the content providers are Associated Press, TVN 24, TVN Lingua, n-sport, TMT, Bullseye TV, Fashion TV, Podroze TV, MEG, United Pictures, Hollywood Reporter, 4fun.tv, Pilot Guides and Upside. In addition to acquired programming, Onet.tv broadcasts own productions such as live broadcast and interviews with celebrities, InterNET24, the global net news show complemented by music or film related shows hosted by stars. The platform's entire content is available "on demand", so it is at users' own discretion to choose what programs, at what time and from where do they want to see. By creating their own "playlist", users can create their own programming schedule fitted perfectly to their needs, interests and time limitations. Access to Onet.tv is free of charge no matter the time of broadcast and a recepient's address.

 


18.06.2007 - OnetLajt on the "n" platform.

 

The "n" platform launched sport.onet.pl, the first service originating from onet.pl. The service applies the "lajt" technology, which was originally introduced by Onet.pl for the portal's special version optimized for mobile equipment (OnetLajt). Both structure and navigation of the Sport.onet.pl Lajt service are designed for ease of use through the "n" remote control. The information is provided in a form of a short briefing accompanied by an image. Sport.onet.pl Lajt is available free of charge to all n subscribers having nSport channel in their package. Subscribers equipped with the nBox HDTV can also access the new service and the nBox HDTV Recorder users will be granted an access shortly. Additional OnetLajt services for the "n" platform are under preparation.

 


11.06.2007 - TVN stars to play the Polish Sejm in the "big football charity match" organized by the TVN Foundation.

 

The "big football charity match" organized by the TVN Foundation "you are not alone" together with TVN will take place on 23.06.2007 in Legia's stadium. TVN stars such as journalists Kamil Durczok, Tomasz Sianecki, Tomasz Sekielski, Andrzej Morozowski, Bogdan Rymanowski and Olivier Janiak and members of TVN's management board Piotr Walter and Lukasz Wejchert will play against reprentatives of Polish parliament among them Wojciech Olejniczak (SLD), Janusz Wojcik ( Samoobrona), Waldemar Pawlak (PSL), Krzysztof Bosak (LPR) and Jacek Kurski (PiS). The "big match" will be hosted by Magda Molek and Andrzej Soltysik and commented by a team made up of the journalist Grzegorz Miecugow, sport commentator Grzegorz Kalinowski and satirist Tomasz Jachimek. The "big match" broadcast live on TVN is the fifth charity project of such kind organized by the TVN Foundation. The funds raised from ticket sales and sms voting will be used to purchase special ambulances for children clinics.

29.05.2007 - Lukasz Fabianski joins Arsenal London.

 

On 26.05,2007 Legia Warszawa agreed to the transfer of its goal keeper Lukasz Fabianski to Arsenal London. The transfer of Lukasz Fabianski represents the largest transfer of a Polish football player to a foreign club. Lukasz Fabianski debuted with Legia on 24.07.2005 as successor of Artur Boruc, who at that time had left for Celtic Glasgow. Lukasz Fabianski was Legia's goal keeper during the 2005/2006 Polish Championship season when Legia took the title. Lukasz Fabianski was nominated several times to the Polish national team in the various age categories as well as being a two time winner of the prestigious Soccer Oscar award.

29.05.2007 - TVN S.A. acquires Mango Media Sp. z o.o.

 

TVN S.A. acquired full ownership of Mango Media Sp. z o.o., the operator of the teleshopping channel, Mango 24. The transaction marks the entry by the TVN Group into the teleshopping market, which in Western Europe is estimated to be over EUR 6.5 billion in value, compared to around EUR 10million in Poland today. The Electronic Retailing Association expects this market to show strong growth rate over the coming years. TVN targets to increase Mango 24 reveues to over PLN 200 mln within the next five years and to increase the profit margin to 60%, which would exceed the current margin recorded by the TVN Group. Mango 24 is the only all day teleshopping channel in Poland, which through its distribution on cable networks and digital platforms reaches around 5million households. The acqusition will further diversify TVN Group's revenue streams.

 


22.05.2007 - New attractive products and services offered by "n", the new generation television.

 

On 16.05.2007 "n" the new generation television platform presented its enhanced product offering introducing several new and unique channels and innovative services. The News and Information package will be expanded by adding the Religious Channel, the Kids package will be further broadened by adding "KidsCo" targeted towards the 3 to 7 year old and "DaVinci" the teenage education channel. The Style package will be complemented by launching "nTalk" - a combination of own and world-best talk shows - and exclusive to "n" O.TV, hosted by Jurek Owsiak. "n" at the same expands its VOD offering by launching in cooperation with NBC Universal the "PictureBox Service", which will provide a broad selection of the most recent Hollywood hits as well as classics. As a new service VOD subscribers will be able to see movies ahead of the launch on any pay-television channel in Poland. The television program offering is being completed by a broad range of over 300 radio channels out of which 5 are exclusive to the "n" platform. The n-Radio is created in close cooperation with renowned music starts such as Beata Kozidrak, Kayah, Muniek Staszczyk, Nigel Kenneedy and Leszek Mozdzer. In addition a "n" platform subscribers may with the n-Box surf the web combining television and web experience. The entire package is unique to "n" and available to its subscribers.

 


15.05.2007 - TVN Group announced excellent results for the first quarter of 2007.

 

TVN Group recorded particularly strong financial and operational results for the first quarter 2007. TVN channels aggregated all day nationwide audience share increased to 21% from 20% in the corresponding period of 2006. Prime time nationwide audience share for TVN channel increased to 20.6% from 20.3% in the corresponding period of 2006. TVN 24 increased its all day key target group audience share to 5.7% from 3.8% in the corresponding period of 2006. Onet cash sales up 35% over the corresponding period of 2006 and cash EBITDA up 60% to PLN 11 million. TVN Group's net revenues increased by 39% to PLN 329 million from PLN 236 million in the corresponding period of 2006. The operating profit increased by 41% to PLN 95 million. Operating margin was 29%. EBITDA increased by 43% to 112 million from PLN 78 million in the corresponding period of 2006 and EBITDA margin was 34% as compared to 33% in the corresponding period of 2006. EBITDA excluding stock option plan expenses was PLN 125 million and EBITDA margin was 38%. TVN Group recorded a net profit of PLN 47 million. TVN Group launched two new important products since the end of last year - the TVN24.pl news vortal and zumi.pl an online directory service which incorporates location finding on satellite and hybrid maps. The initial results for both of these new initiatives are promising and represent the first significant fruits of TVN merger with Grupa Onet.

14.05.2007 - TVN Med offers current and practical medical knowledge via the Internet!

 

On 09.05.2007 www.tvnmed.pl, the educational portal launched video streaming services. The medical educational programs can be viewed free of charge on the Internet. The portal's users have access to content produced by TVN Med and discussion forums with content producers and other doctors. Additional links and downloadable files containing information about pharmaceuticals are carried on the portal. TVN Med has been created for and by doctors and its development is strongly supported by various science and local organizations as well as by the entire medical community. Contact with the programs' producers and other doctors as well as possibility to discuss concrete clinical cases are seen as the future of the educational platform. TVN Med consists of satellite coded thematic channel available on "n", the digital platform and specialized Internet portal www.tvnmed.pl.

08.05.2007 - Multikino conquers Wroclaw.

 

Multikino, the ITI Group multiplex cinema operator enters the Wroclaw market by opening in May two state-of-art cinemas with a total of 21 screens almost simultaneously, thereby significantly expanding Wroclaw's entertainment offer. Both Multikino sites are located in shopping and entertainment centers: Pasaz Grunwaldzki and Arkady Wroclawskie and will open on 10.05.2007 and 31.05.2007 respectively. In addition to an attractive film offer Wroclaw residents will have the opportunity to participate in gala premiers with celebrity participation, film marathons, concert screenings and live sport broadcasts and a number of other non film based events. As in other Multikino cinemas, Multikino Wroclaw will invite its audience to special shows such as "Noc Reklamozercow" ("Commercial-eaters Night"), the popular event dedicated to the advertising industry, "Kino na obcasach" ("High heels cinema"), a special performance for female audience and "Multibabykino", the initiative for parents with babies. Multikino will also introduce its bonus program "Multikinomaniak" for regular cinema goers.

18.04.2007 - TVN Med to support "Life is an invaluable gift", a prevention program.

 

The education platform TVN Med will support preventive programs increasing the awareness on the need for early diagnosis of breast and uterine cancer, the most common cancer types in women. Every year around 12'000 women in Poland are diagnosed with those diseases and half of them die only because the cancer was found too late. Prevention programs, conducted by the Ministry of Health and the National Health Fund (NFZ), aim to decrease the risks of late diagnosis. "Life is an invaluable gift" offers women free of charge mammogram and cytology exams provided by various medical centers participating in the campaign.
