Awards 2009 

Soccer Oscars 2009 - Krzysztof Dowhan and Jan Mucha of Legia Warszawa, are among the laureates of this year's Soccer Oscars award. Jan Mucha named the "Best Goal Keeper of Extraklasa", and Krzysztof Dowhan, the goal keepers' coach, was presented a "Special Oscar". As in previous years the awards were granted based on a survey among Poland's football players conducted by Canal+. (December, 2009)

 


Poland's most powerful brands - TVN for the fifth time has been recognized asPoland's most powerful and most valuable media brand, ranking 8th overall - according to the Rzeczpospolita ranking. TVN was acknowledged for its brand's strength, perceived value, prestige, quality and customers' loyalty. Four further TVN Group brands were awarded - TVN24 ranked 9th, TVN 7 ranked 12th, Onet.pl ranked 28th and n platform was the 33rd most valuable brand in Poland. The ranking of Poland's most valuable and powerful 2009 brands was based on a consumer study, conducted jointly by Rzeczpospolita daily, Acropolis Advisory and AC Nielsen research company. Grand Press 2009 - Szymon Jadczak and Maciej Kuciela, journalists of TVN's Uwaga! were acknowledged with the Grand Press 2009 Award in the "News" category. The journalists were awarded for their "Dobre, bo szwedzkie" ("Good, cause Swedish")documentary on over twenty-year-old meat, purchased and imported to Poland from Swedish army provisions. The meat, even though it was unfit for consumption, was being delivered among others to Polish schools, kindergartens and orphanages. Grand Press Award is intended for journalists who embody highest professional and ethical standards and their work is individual and socially important. (December 2009)

 


Good Company 2009 - TVN Group has received the "Good Company 2009" (Dobra Firma 2009) award by the "Rzeczpospolita". According to the "List 2000" (Lista 2000) ranking, TVN, strong financial results, is named among most vigorously developing companies. The "List 2000" includes companies with over PLN 80 mln annual revenue. The "Good Company 2009" award was presented to companies having recorded the best results and most dynamic and effective growth. (November 2009)

 


Superbrands 2009 - TVN, TVN24 together with Onet.pl received the "Superbrand Polska" awards counting among the top brands in Poland. The specific brand reputation is examined by the Brand Council, which is made up of marketing, advertising and branding experts. The "Superbrand" statuettes are presented to brands with a very strong position in their respective industries by providing a significant value to the consumers. (November 2009)

 


Hot Bird - Wojna i Pokój - the only film channel in Poland devoted totally to the best works of Russian and Soviet cinematography received the Hot Bird TV Award (called the Satellite Oscar) in the "Cinema" category. Hot Bird TV Awards which have been granted since 1998 belong to the most prestigious TV awards worldwide. Every year hundreds of thematic channels from all around Europe and the Mediterranean area compete for these awards which are granted on the basis of a verdict of the international panel of experts. Golden and Green Pears - Grzegorz Miecugow of TVN24 was presented the "Golden Pear" award issued by the Association of Journalists of the Republic of Poland. Grzegorz Miecugow has been recognized for his "outstanding journalistic achievements and impeccable working routine". The "Green Pear", an award for young and promising journalists, was given to Tomasz Poniklo of "Tygodnik Powszechny". (November, 2009)

 


Andrzej Woyciechowski Award - Ewa Ewart, the journalist and producer working for BBC, is this year's laureate of the Andrzej Woyciechowski award in acknowledgement of her "Ewa Ewart's documentaries", the documentary series broadcast by TVN24. In her documentaries Ewa Ewart reported among others on North Korean's secret concentration camps, Columbian civil war, environment pollution in the countries of the Former Soviet Union and the terrorist attack on the school in Bieslan. The Andrzej Woyciechowski award is given for outstanding journalism, which in significant degree changed Polish people lives and had an influence on their perception of the World. The Award Committee is made up of heads from leading Polish media. (October, 2009)

 


RomaFictionFest Award - "Trzech kumpli" ("Three Buddies"), a documentary produced by TVN was awarded in the category "Documentary" during the international film festival RomaFictionFest. RomaFictionFest is, along with Swiss festival Rose d'Or, acknowledged to be the most prestigious international competition within the television sector in Europe. From July 6th to July 11th, 2009 over 43 thousand people watched 250 movies. Television productions taking part in the festival competed in 4 categories: Documentary, TV Movie, Series and Mini-Series. (July, 2009)

 


BAZAR - Grzegorz Kuczek and Maciej Kuciel, journalists from the UWAGA editorial team were awarded during this year's National Documentary Film Festival, BAZAR. Grzegorz Kuczek was presented the Marschal of Wielkopolskie Voivodeship award for his documentary "Truja na terenach ekologicznych" ("Toxic ecological zones") recognizing his scrutiny and determination in exposing the indifference of authorities towards illegal pollution of cultivated fields. Maciej Kuciel was awarded by the Voivode of the Wielkopolskie province for his documentary "Interesy pana J." ("Undertakings of Mr. J") honoring his thorough investigation, meticulous commentary and consequence in unveiling suspicious undertakings of a man accused of organized criminal activity by local prosecutor's office and his connections with politicians, police and other public representatives. The BAZAR National Documentary Film Festival is one of Poland's most important events focusing on the socio-economic journalism in television. The festival is organized by Astra TV Studio since 14 years , this year's co-operators were the Marschal Office of Wielkopolskie Voivodeship, Poznan International Fair, and The Polish Chamber of Commerce. PremiumBrand - in the fourth edition of the PremiumBrand ranking TVN was came out as the Brand with the Highest Reputation in Poland and the Media Brand with the Highest Reputation. TVN was also presented a special award as the Brand having the Highest Public Commitment. The Premium Brand is a prestigious project that surveys the reputation of all brands present in the Polish market. The Research is based on the consumers' surveys. The research was carried out by TNS OBOP in April and May 2009. 67 brands and 30 companies were evaluated. (June, 2009)

 


Business Superbrand - The ITI Group has been acknowledged as one of the strongest business brands in Poland. The Superbrands organization, which is active for 14 years and currently operates in 80 countries worldwide, conducted the Business Superbrand survey for the second time in Poland to name the best recognized B2B (business-to business) brands on the Polish market. The specific brand reputation is examined by the Brand Council, and strongest brands (around 7% of all examined brands), are invited to the exclusive group of Business Superbrands.

 


Student Product of the Year 2009 - The TVN channel has awarded the "Student Product of the Year 2009" in the category "Student Medium" and TVN's entertainment show Szymon Majewski Show has received the award in the category "Cooltura". The survey is organized by the "?dlaczego" monthly and the Internet portal Korba.pl,. with the awards being presented in 24 categories. The Student Product of the Year survey aims to recognize the most popular and most attractive students' brands and products. (May, 2009)

 


Ideal Employer 2009 - The ITI Group has been named "ideal employer" in the category "humanistic sciences" in the Polish Student Survey. The survey aims to identify students' preferences and expectations concerning their career planning and development, to verify the image of Polish employers as well as to check what criteria define a perfect workplace. The ITI Group has been ranked as the leader in the media & advertising industry and came within the 10 top companies in IT and Law. This year's survey compiled assessments by 15'000 students. Wiktory 2008 - Jaroslaw Kuzniar TVN 24 journalist was presented the Wiktor 2008 statuette in the category "television discovery of the year". Wojciech Iwanski the director of the "Taniec z gwiazdami" ("Strictly come dancing") and "Mam talent" ("Got Talent") shows, was awarded creator of the best television program. The Wiktory, which originated in 1985, is the award of the Polish Television Academy and are awarded annually to the most outstanding television personalities. (May, 2009)

 


The most powerful woman in Poland - Monika Olejnik, the journalist of TVN 24 ranked second in the Forbes magazine list of "most powerful woman in Poland" . Danuta Huebner, the European Commissioner topped the Forbes' list, and Hanna Gronkiewicz-Waltz, Mayor of Warsaw ranked third. Monika Olejnik is acknowledged as the most influential woman in media industry. (April, 2009)

 


Leaders of the Polish National Health Care System 2008 - The TVN Foundation "you are not alone" was recognized as a "Leader of the Polish National Health Care System" for its "broad and professionally fund raising activities and support provided to fund medical investments especially in the areas of pediatrics and neonatology". The "Leaders of the Polish National Health Care System" survey aimed to acknowledge the individuals and institution whose involvement and undertakings bring about a significant quality improvement of the health care in Poland in 2008. Hollywood Eagle Documentary Award - Anna Ferens and Ewa Stankiewicz, authors of the documentary "Trzech kumpli" (Three buddies) produced by TVN were awarded for the best documentary during the 10th Polish Film Festival in Los Angeles. The Festival looks to promote Poland, its culture and film industry in Hollywood. (April, 2009)

 


Award of the 3rd Television Investigative Reporting Screening - TVN's productions: "Russian mafia, Polish government and gas" by Przemyslaw Wojciechowski and Witold Gadowski of TVN Superwizjer, and "The mystery of Jaroszewicz double-murder" by Krzysztof Spiechowicz of TVN Uwaga were awarded during the 3rd Television Investigative Reporting Screening. Acknowledged were also two other documentaries from TVN: "Terrorists' Prince" by Beata Biel and Przemyslaw Wojciechowski, and "Indemnity hunters" by Joanna Bukowska. Magda Zagala of TVN Superwizjer was presented an audience award for her documentary "Sex Affair in Townhall" (April, 2009)

 


The most valuable media company in Poland - TVN Group was acknowledged to be the most valuable Polish media company in "the Poland's 100 most valuable companies" ranking conducted by Newsweek magazine and A.T. Kearney. In the ranking, 5 media companies are included. Continuously since 2006 TVN Group has been outpacing its main competitors. The ranking compared Poland's most valuable companies. It is conducted by Newsweek Magazine in cooperation with the management consulting company A.T Kearney. The ranking was based on the generally available information and data received from the analyzed companies. (April 2009)

 


Bishop Jan Chrapek award - Father Kazimierz Sowa, Head of "Religia.tv" received the Bishop Jan Chrapek award "Slad" for "creating a modern medium dedicated to religion, culture and the virtues of the soul". This year the award committee issued for the first time the "Denarius", the economy related award, which was presented to Marek Tejchman, journalist in TVN CNBC Biznes, acknowledgment for the "sensitivity and consideration in sharing his knowledge on contemporary economics". The Bishop Jan Chrapek awards are being given since 2002 by media, church and culture representatives to media personalities supporting the idea of truth, understanding and dialog, in honor of bishop Jan Chrapek, who was an open and media friendly person. The name of the award "Slad" ("Trace") is inspired by the bishop's life motto "to live one's life the way, to leave the lasting trace in the world". (April, 2009)

 


European Trusted Brands 2009 - In the 2009 European Trusted Brands survey, TVN for the eighth time in a row was acknowledged as "the Most Trusted Brand" awarded with the Golden Emblem and Crystal Emblem. The Reader's Digest European Trusted Brands consumer survey is the largest of its kind in Europe. The Reader's Digest Trusted Brands survey is held every year across Europe since 2001. In this years survey over 23 000 respondents representing 16 countries judged the brands. (April 2009)

 


Award of the Polish Association of Stock Exchange Issuers - TVN CNBC Biznes channel has been awarded by the Polish Association of Stock Exchange Issuers in recognition for its "credibility and objectivism in providing business news", as well as for an "ability to inform the public about the economic crises without causing a panic ". TVN CNBC Biznes is a 24-hour business news channel developed in cooperation with CNBC Europe targeting business people interested in Polish and world's economy, stock exchange and investment trends. Order of the Smile - Bozena Walter, President of the TVN Foundation "you are not alone", has been presented the "Order of the Smile", an international award given to adults distinguished for their love, perseverance, care and aid to children. Candidates are chosen by children, who submit their proposals to the Chapter of the Order of the Smile in Warsaw. It is in Chapter's discretion to announce and honour Laureates with this remarkable award. Bozena Walter and her Foundation were acknowledged for help and support provided for seriously ill children, to children hospitals, and orphanages. (March, 2009)

 


Media Trendy 2009 - Edward Miszczak, Program Director and Vice-President of TVN's Management Board was named "Media Man 2009", a title in the "Innovation in Mass Media - Media Trendy" competition conducted by the Association of Advertising Agencies. The "Media Man of the Year" title is given to individuals, who have a major impact on innovative developments in the Polish media sector. (March, 2009)

 


Dariusz Fikus Award - Tygodnik Powszechny's chief-editor, Father Adam Boniecki won the Dariusz Fikus award in the category "Media creator". Ewa Stankiewicz and Anna Ferens, the authors of the documentary "Trzech kumpli" (Three buddies) produced by TVN were awarded in the category "Creators in media". The Dariusz Fikus award is named after a prominent journalist promoting the idea of independent media and is awarded by Rzeczpospolita daily and its publisher Presspublica since 1997. Golden Scales - Monika Olejnik, TVN 24 journalist, and host of the current affairs show "Kropka nad i" was honoured with the Golden Scales award from the Polish Bar Council. Monika Olejnik was recognized for her "quest for truth which gets often lost in media chaos". The award of the Polish Bar Council given since 2005 aims to recognize journalists for their credibility, knowledge, and objectivism shown in their publications.

 


Impactor 2008 - TVN/TVN24 journalist Bogdan Rymanowski received the Impactor Award as "Most Admired Journalist of 2008" . The Impactor Awards are granted in 11 categories, and honor those whose impact on the media and advertising industry in the last year is considered to be particularly significant. The laureates are appointed by the market experts from the Polish Advertising and Media Academy and the representatives from the advisory firm KPMG. (February, 2009)

 


Golden Screen - TVN Warszawa channel received an award from the President of Poznan for promoting topics related to municipal administration. TVN Warszawa is a modern television channel dedicated to Warsaw and its residents providing daily breaking news, city updates, information on cultural events of the capital and recreation time ideas. Polish Chamber of Commerce Award - Roman Mlodkowski, Programming Director TVN CNBC Biznes, was presented with an award of the President of the Polish Chamber of Commerce, given to individuals contributing to the development of the economy and enterprise in Poland. Roman Mlodkowski was acknowledged for creating a television channel, which collaborates with the World's biggest net of business oriented television channels. TVN CNBC Biznes is a 24-hour business news channel developed by TVN Group in cooperation with CNBC Europe. (February, 2009)

 


Forbes Golden Ranking Award -  TVN  Group’s  CEO  Piotr Walter was acknowledged  in  the  Forbes  Golden Ranking category. The distinction for Piotr Walter  is  related  to TVN’s triumph in the PremiumBrand ranking in which  TVN  was acknowledged to be the “Brand of the Highest Reputation” on the Polish market. Forbes Executive  Forum  is  a  monthly meeting preceding release of every Forbes  magazine  issue. The subject of the yesterday’s conference was “the newest trends on the private  capital markets and the opportunities and threats  of investing through Private Equity / Venture Capital”. During the conference the  awards  were  presented  in  three  categories: the Forbes Diamonds,  the Player of the Year and the Forbes Golden Ranking - the award for the winners of the most prestigious 2008 Forbes rankings. Telekamery 2009 - TVN journalists and stars lead the laureates of Poland's most prestigious television award, "Telekamery". Justyna Pochanke won the award in the "news" category. Bogdan Rymanowski has been awarded in the category "Publicyzm". The "I've got talent" show won the award in the category "Entertainment", and Szymon Majewski was recognized as the "Show business personality". Marta Zmuda-Trzebiatowska, known to the Polish audience from two television series "Twarza w twarz" ("Face to face") and "Teraz albo nigdy" ("Now or never"), was presented the statuettes for best actress, and Tomasz Karolak of "39 i pol" ("39 and a half") series was recognized as the best actor. The series "Kryminalni" won the honorary award Zlota Telekamera ("Golden Telecamera"), which is given to the 3 times Telekamery winners. Telekamery awards are given by the Polish leading TV magazin "Tele Tydzien" whose readers select their favourite celebrities and television programs every year. (February, 2009)

 


Pro Publico Bono Platinum Laurel - Bozena Walter, President of the TVN Foundation "you are not alone", received the Pro Publico Bono Platinum Laurel for her "commitment to charity activities and promoting in media an attitude of helping people in need". Golden, platinum, crystal, and diamond laurels are given to individuals and companies by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Katowice in recognition of the most interesting and the most valuable public initiatives. Best Managed Brand - TVN, outpacing any other television, radio station and media brand, is named the best managed media brand in Poland. In a study conducted from March 2008 until December 2008 marketing specialists pointed the best managed brands in 10 categories. TVN was acknowledged to be the best managed brand in the media category. The research was conducted by the Marketing & More monthly, Researcher by Call Center Poland and Panorama Firm.
